Deck, Engineer and Electro-Technical Officers in the British Merchant Navy play a central role in maintaining the extraordinary success story of one of Britain’s leading industries. As an inland nation we still rely on ships of the Merchant Navy to carry 95 % of our inputs and exports.

Ships are crewed by specialist departments each offering diverse training opportunities and challenges with unique lifestyles.

All SSTG Deck, Engineer and Electro-Technical Officer Cadets follow an MNTB/MCA approved training programme. Most are three years in duration.

You will need to meet a number of requirements to qualify for training.
